Radon is a natural, radioactive gas that comes from the ground. It’s impossible to see or smell and only through testing will you know how much radon is in your home.
Quick Facts about Radon
- There is not a “safe” level of radon exposure. However, the EPA has a recommended action level of 0.4p Ci/L. The EPA recommends that homes with radon levels above 0.4 take action to lower the radon level.
- Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.
- 1 in 3 homes in Ada county are above the EPA recommended action level.
- There are a number of radon mitigation strategies and most are quite reasonable in cost.
